INTRODUCTION
Having conducted three biannual conferences very successfully by STP-I, some of the senior pathologist working in the academics and industry felt a need to start board certification similar to those existing in some of the advanced countries to accredit suitable persons as Diplomats of Indian Board of Toxicologic Pathology (IBTP).
After detailed deliberations, it was concluded to start IBTP in 2011. To give legal requirement for the same, a committee was formed under the leadership of Late Dr. S. J. Seshadri an eminent pathologist. Subsequently the bio-data from senior scientific persons from academics and industry were obtained, scrutinized and seven members were identified to act as “Founder Charter Members” of IBTP.
The responsibilities of these chartered members were to define the modalities of conducting IBTP board examination. After finalizing the pattern of examination for board certification suitable bi-laws were formed and it was registered as “Indian Board of Toxicologic Pathology (IBTP)” is an affiliate of Society of Toxicologic Pathology – India (Registered under Karnataka Society Registration Act, 1960; Registration No. 757/04-05) for purposes of certifying Toxicologic Pathologists by examination/s and for enabling candidates taking examination/s to by way of training (workshops), access to study materials and continuing education.
